Important limitations
Tax estimate disclaimer
TryClarityTax is a planning tool. Its estimates can help frame a relocation question, but they are not a tax return, appraisal, legal opinion, or recommendation to move.
Do not make a filing, purchase, sale, relocation, or investment decision based solely on a TryClarityTax estimate.
Verify current rules and your specific facts with the appropriate government authority and a qualified tax, legal, or financial professional.
Informational estimates, not professional advice
TryClarityTax provides automated educational estimates for self-service planning. Nothing on the site constitutes tax preparation, certified public accounting services, legal advice, financial planning, investment advice, or a guarantee of tax liability or savings.
The estimate is narrower than a complete tax analysis
The headline annual difference currently reflects estimated state and local income tax, estimated sales tax, and estimated property tax. It does not necessarily include federal tax, retirement-income treatment, estate or inheritance tax, business taxes, franchise or gross-receipts taxes, special assessments, insurance, transaction costs, every municipal levy, or every credit, deduction, exemption, phaseout, and reciprocity rule.
Assumptions can materially change the result
The homepage comparison uses the submitted annual income or $100,000 when left blank, a $500,000 assumed home value, single filing status, no over-65 adjustment, and taxable spending equal to 35% of annual income. Different income, property value, filing status, household composition, spending, income type, or eligibility for exemptions can produce a materially different result.
Local data and fallback limitations
Tax burdens vary by county, municipality, school district, and special taxing district. Where precise local data is unavailable, a comparison may use a statewide rate or average. A ZIP code can cross jurisdictional boundaries, and a mailing address does not always identify the governing tax district. Confirm property and local tax information with the relevant assessor, finance office, or tax authority.
Data can become outdated
Rates, brackets, deductions, exemptions, assessment practices, and taxable-item rules change. Published datasets can also contain errors, omissions, inconsistent effective dates, or later revisions. TryClarityTax does not warrant that every value is current, complete, or suitable for a particular purpose.
No guarantee of savings or outcome
A displayed difference is a model output based on the available data and assumptions—not a promise that moving will save that amount. Actual tax liability depends on facts not captured by the comparison and on the law in effect during the relevant tax year.
Your responsibility
